It’s a new year and NWFBAG is excited to continue its work on the Farm Bill with a couple new faces on staff.
Long-time NWFBAG Steering Committee member Ariana Taylor-Stanley is thrilled to come on board as Coordinator and has big plans for 2013. In addition to her role at NWFBAG, Ariana raises veggies and chickens for her urban CSA, Moon Rabbit Farm, and coordinates policy work for Tilth Producers of Washington. She also works for a better food future as a steering committee member with the Delridge Produce Cooperative, the Washington Young Farmers Coalition, and SLICE: Strengthening Local Independent Cooperatives Everywhere. Ariana also enjoys playing music and hanging out with her kitty, Lefty.
Originally from Eastern Washington, Danielle Gilmour is currently attending her first year at the University of Washington. In recent years she has become aware of the global food system through various books, classes, and documentaries which has sparked her passion for studying it through college. She volunteers at the UW Farm, and is a member of the UW Real Food Challenge. This quarter she is taking a class called “The Geography of Food and Eating”. Offered in conjunction with this course was the option of service learning. After researching available positions on the Carlson Center’s website, Danielle found NWFBAG and knew it was exactly what she would love to do. She is very excited to have the intern position, and can’t wait to be more involved with the the Seattle community and its efforts for creating a more just food system.
