On October 4th, 2015 leaders of the twelve Trans-Pacific Partnership countries announced conclusions of their negotiations. Since its full text release, the TPP has been heavily debated and criticized.
Our allies at The Washington Fair Trade Coalition say that "the TPP gives global companies the advantage over governments regarding public health, food security, financial regulation, control of the internet, access to medicines and patent monopolies". Also, it's worth noting the TPP allows preferred access to markets in Washington State by Vietnam, Malaysia and Brunei - countries that have failed numerous times to meet international standards of basic environmental laws and poor working conditions.
